With its central location in the economic and geographical center of Europe, Baselland has an important competitive advantage in terms of accessibility and international connections for economic players as well as a location for headquarters, logistics groups and trading companies. The French and German sales markets are on the doorstep - as is access to labor from both countries.

Baselland is part of Switzerland with its many valuable qualities and advantages for the economy. 1. political system: direct democracy, concordance and federalism ensure a high degree of stability, legal certainty and personal responsibility. Excellent accessibility with its own port, airport, highway and rail network
Baselland is very well connected in terms of transportation. The Rhine ports of Basel handle almost 5 million tons of goods and 126,000 containers annually and handle 7 percent of Switzerland’s total foreign trade by volume. At the same time, Baselland is located on two main transport axes – the north-south transport axis Germany/Benelux-Italy (with the A2 highway and intercity connections) and the Biel/Bienne-Belfort (France) transport axis. The EuroAirport airport can be reached from anywhere in the canton in a maximum of 45 minutes, Zurich airport in around an hour.

With direct flights to around 100 destinations in Europe, EuroAirport handles around 8 million passengers and approximately 115,000 tons of freight (with around 85,000 flight movements). Zurich Airport is easy to reach and offers direct flights to around 190 destinations worldwide. This starting position not only creates favorable conditions for internationally oriented economic development, but also shapes the solidarity and openness of the people of Baselland towards Europe and the world.
